Project
I (Sly) need to have a long term project going all the time. My last project was losing weight. I’ve been project-less for a year and consequently have felt at loose ends. I tried house decorating but I don’t have an eye for it so I just feel incompetent. The yard and garden have been fun but I don’t want it as a project. I need something big. Something measureable. Something with a checklist.
KP got me hooked on Dave Ramsey’s podcast while we were on vacation in May. I don’t normally like talk radio but Ramsey is fun. He puts his show up on Itunes 2-3x a week so I listen to it at the gym. The church library started carrying Ramsey’s Total Money Makeover book a few weeks ago. We’re in very good shape compared to most of Ramsey’s listeners. However Chief is getting older and the thought of college tuition makes me want to cry. I bought Ramsey’s Total Money Makeover book last Sunday from the church library. As we got into bed last night, I told KP that he was going to regret he ever got me hooked on Ramsey because it was my new project.
KP knows once I get started on a project I’m um well–devoted, committed and focused. Those are nice ways of saying my OCD tendancies go into overdrive. The TMM book has forms. Forms! How I love forms. Sadly my little copier is broken. I see a trip to Kinkos in my future because one cannot start a project until there’s forms and a binder involved. A binder with colored dividers neatly labeled with my handy dandy label maker.
I’m completely serious here…my heart beats a little faster thinking of the beautiful binder. Poor KP.

Me too, Sly! My heart skipped a beat just reading about the forms. LOL If it were me I wouldn’t even be able to wait to get those copies because you can’t really start a project unless you have all the forms ready to go. I checked that book out from our library and really liked it. Have fun!

The wife and I got on the Dave Ramsey kick about 6 or 7 years ago and while not freaky form following people, we have defiantly helped out financial standing by doing it. While we did not use the forms we did do the envelopes for a long time until all the debts were paid off now we are in a habit where we don’t need the discipline of the envelope to keep us on the path.
If you use his stuff as a life style change kind of thing you will never regret it. We just bought our first car completely with cash out of pocket and it felt great. We have not had a car payment in over 5 years and looks like we will never have one again in the future simply by following his program.
