flaky people

This is the last time I sell stuff through the local homeschool e-group. I posted something to the group last week and immediately got two responses. I promised it to the first caller and she said she would be over on Wednesday to pick it up but would call first. I didn’t hear from her […]

wrong answer!

I used to do market research studies for Pampers quite often when Princess was a baby because it was a way to get free diapers plus $75-100 cash for an hour of my time. Not a bad deal for a stay at home Mom. One time I got $100 just for walking into […]

small things make life easier

Until very recently, the Cincinnati library system had a horribly outdated web site. It was painfully slow and completely user unfriendly. In August they shut the system down for nearly two weeks to do a major upgrade. They did a great job. I get on the web site and reserve books three weeks in advance. […]

Fall day

These are from Sunday afternoon. It was a beautiful sunny 70 degrees. We got the dog tucked into her house for the winter. Not that she spends that much time outside but I like her to be warm and dry when we’re gone. I cleaned up the dead annuals in the front and hung clothes […]

more science projects

Today we made a clay model of a flower. Chief formed the stem out of clay and added a few leaves. He cut the corolla (petals) out of construction paper and cut a hole in the center for the carpel to poke through. The Q-tips represent the stamen and anthers.

weigh in day

I stayed the same. I thought I was down a pound but our scales are a little off. I think I might try Flex this week. I’m getting a little bored with Core food. I also think I need a reality check on portion sizes. When I was doing points by myself, I had the […]

Yikes its mice!

Every year we find evidence of just one mouse thankfully only in the garage. We kill it and don’t have any further problems. However word has spread through the mouse community that we have a worthless cat so this is a great place to winter.
Last week KP found a mouse living in our grill. He […]

Costume Party and other Saturday happenings

Lori’s family hosted a costume party today for I think eleven children. I’ll post pictures to the gallery later. I thought I got a picture of Lori’s girls together but apparently not. I’m sure Lori will have a few at her site.
We left the party and went to Saturday night Focus service at CCM. […]

Flower dissection

Our assignment today in Apologia botany was to dissect a flower. We tried dissecting a rose from the grocery store but found we couldn’t identify the male and female parts. My friend Melissa is also doing Apologia botany with her kids and is a little ahead of us so they had already done this […]
