Can you believe this guy’s luck?

He’s selling his ex-wife’s wedding dress on Ebay. Check out the current bid. All he wanted was beer and Mariner’s tickets.

Sheesh!

The author of the homeschool material we use suggests making a chart as your child nears the “dialectic” stage of the trivium. This is supposedly very helpful because it will show me if I need to tweak the materials so Chief is properly prepared for high school level work.
While Chief must be prepared for […]

Is this a threat?

Chief is complaining about a headache. I told him we could skip school but it delays the start of summer by another day. He said “OK I’ll do school but I think I’ll probably get a lot wrong”. I told him in that case not to waste my time. He had an about face and […]

for the computer geeks

the Obsolete Computer Museum
I remember thinking we were so cool when we got the Commodore 64. When I was at GLCC, I wrote my research paper for George Brown on it.
BTW I still have above mentioned research paper. I spent 12 weeks researching and a whole Saturday typing. I’ll never throw it out.

productive day

We took full advantage of the one nice day we’ve had since last weekend and got a bunch of outside jobs taken care of. The main thing was getting the lawn mowed. I think every mower in the area was going today. We noticed on the way home from church tonight that almost every house […]

Odd addition to the family

Last weekend I noticed four medium sized rocks in the side yard. Thinking Princess was behind it, I asked KP if he knew anything about it. He said Chief reported Cassie was collecting them. Sure enough when she goes outside, the first thing she does is go to check on her rocks and then she […]

Gingerbread

We’re still studying colonial America. One of the hands on activities recommended by Tapestry was baking gingerbread since it was a common colonial treat. Being the lazy homeschool Mom that I am I decided to skip the rolling/cookie cutter part of it and just make it in a 9×9 pan. As with any cooking project, […]

Cincinnati Enquirer vs. National Enquirer

Over at Leigh’s blog, she writes about being stumped by my reading of the “Enquirer”. Leigh, it never crossed my mind that someone might think I was referring to the National Enquirer. Thanks for the laugh!
BTW, no I don’t read the National Enquirer other than being amused by the headlines and pictures while I stand […]

Small home improvement project

When we bought our dining room table and chairs, we couldn’t find a set that didn’t have upholstered chairs. Trends are fickle and the last time I was in a furniture store, I saw mostly plain chairs. Sigh. In the five years or so since we bought the table, the upholstery has taken a beating […]

Belated Easter egg hunt

Since we weren’t at the Eggstravaganza, Jan and Tim sent each kid an egg. The mail was a little slow so we didn’t receive the box until last Thursday. I hid the eggs after they went to bed Thursday night and the hunt was Friday morning. You can see pics in the April gallery.
